Strains and genes and hybrids and new varieties are critically important in the cannabis industry. Having ownership or at least possession of a good strain or two can make or break any cannabis project.
We were excited to see that some real experts in plant genetics were now able to openly carry out research and report on that research, now that recreational use is legal in some states.
Unfortunately, the audio quality of this recording of one such presentation is not as good as we would have hoped. Still, the more science and genetics minded of our students and faculty and friends may find some good info and ideas here.
“There is a rich informal taxonomy of Cannabis strains with exotic and evocative names. How do these breeds reflect the genetic relationships among different strains, and how do those genetic relationships reflect the chemical properties of the specific plants? This is critical information for the commercialization of cannabis, and there is an active private sector investigation into the murky genetics of cannabis. “
