Larry Nagle, the man, the myth, the legend.
The Cannabis College of America was founded on February 21, 2018, seven days after my arrest for cultivation and distribution of cannabis in Florida. Using and losing every penny I had for my defense, it took until January 2020 before things started to turn around, and we began scheduling our first classes at our brick-and-mortar school in Belleville, PA.
Our first seminar took place on the very first day it was announced that COVID-19 had broken out in the U.S. My main student body consisted mostly of Amish and Mennonite farmers from what is known as Big Valley, extending east to Lancaster.
Our first seminar had about 14 attendees, and by the following week, we were already booked for a class of 24 students. A full-time class schedule was also being developed. However, with the media’s help, within a couple of weeks, the fear of a mass quarantine strategy for suppressing the epidemic nearly shut the school down, forcing us to refund all tuition and deposits already paid!
Everything from hydroponic cloning on a small scale to starting clones in plugs on a large scale—we wrote the book on it!
The 4-shelf rack (second pic from the left) houses 1,152 guaranteed female plants from four different mother strains. The third pic from the left shows a huge nursery maintaining thousands of rooted clones in various stages of growth!
If you click on the last pic of the series and look closely, you’ll see that these are cuttings/clones taken from the lower portion of plants already in late-season full bloom. I can even teach you how to force these cuttings back into vegetative growth with minimal stress, creating thriving young genetically identical offspring to their mothers!
Most growers will tell you that’s not even possible!
I don’t believe any other Grower has done the Experimentation and Research on cultivating this plant that I have in the last 50 plus years.
First pic above far left is a research study we did proving we could maintain Positive Growth with daytime temps barely over 40 degrees Fahrenheit.. and night time temps falling to mid 20’s when covered with insulation fabric.
The final determination is that the Cannabis plant will maintain positive growth until actual soil temps fall below 32 degrees. At that point, it appears they go into a state of dormancy.
The first 3 pics in this series are just collecting data on different growing scenarios. The last pic on the right, if you expand it and look closely, you will see the glistening, silver roots in this DEEP WATER HYDROPONIC CULTURE.
Picture far left is a mature female in full seed producing thousands of seeds per plant. I have worked extensively with development of everything from Regular and Feminized seed to Genetically Modified Triploid Seed.

The Sex of the Cannabis plant and the interaction between the sexes remains a crucial part of the True Secrets of Breeding this Plant.
Through Chemical and physical stresses this plant will freely hermaphrodite. Males can be given female expression and make Buds. Females can be given male expression and make pollen. In either instance they have the ability to pollinate themselves.
I.E – A Female that has one branch forced into male sexual expression can pollinate itself. The seed that developed from that pollination will be S1 or self pollinated. In theory all the seed from that union would be feminized and only yield female plants!
The pic on the far right is a true male just waiting to ripen and release his pollen openly. One male Cannabis plant can pollinate 1000’s of females on 1 windy day outdoors easily for 2 to 3 miles away…..
Back years ago I did extensive research on growing Automatics (Ruderalis Genetics).
As a whole I found them non productive for the effort you put forth and that they produced an inferior product. Didn’t matter what trick you pulled out of your sleeve.
At this point I find them as a contaminant to perfected and clean regular genetics. This plant was clearly designed to be absolutely Photo Sensitive. Not meant to flower on it’s own.
Knowing the proper way to structure your plants is absolutely essential to producing enough Rock, Hard Delicious Flower to meet all your needs year round.
Without proper understanding of establishing and increasing lateral growth of the plant, all you’re going to end up with is some little Christmas tree shaped, single cola plants that barely produce ounces little alone pounds!

All the outstanding flower below was grown with only 32 square feet of Rootzone for every 6 plants. At harvest, I’ve seen 6-7 pounds plus dry weight.
This is consistent from hydroponic through growing in soils. The highest yield of the finest flower I’ve ever grown was a Terra-Ponic System that grows in grommeted bags of soil, with water and nutrients upwelling on a 2-hour interval!

Scott Burgett – Lead Instructor

Scott Burgett is a U.S. Army disabled veteran and co-founder of Green Earth Cannaceuticals (GEC). With a professional background spanning healthcare and horticulture, Scott brings a unique blend of scientific insight and agricultural expertise to the cannabis industry.
Scott began his career in medicine, earning his credentials as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist after studying at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and Central Florida Institute. He worked in the medical field for several years before transitioning into cannabis cultivation, where he found the perfect synergy between his passion for health and plants.
He was hired as the Director of Cultivation by The Green Solution (TGS) Florida, one of the first Florida MMJ license holders. Within nine months he built it into the largest Cannabis grower in Florida with over 15,000 plants in perpetual harvest. While with TGS he became certified in CO2 extraction and helped design and build their extraction/processing lab. Due to differing views on the MMJ industry, Scott left TGS.
He then started to work in the hemp industry consulting in cultivation and extraction/processing. Scott has consulted for companies in Florida, Montana, California, Colorado, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama.
In 2018, he co-founded GEC and partnered with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) through the Florida Industrial Hemp Pilot Program, overseeing a network of over 20 farms focused on genetics trials and large-scale hemp cultivation.
Today, Scott continues to lead GEC’s innovation in cannabis science, with active university collaborations and a mission to help shape the future of hemp and medical marijuana in the United States!

CORE CURRICULUM
WEEK 1
Lecture starts with Seed Selection, Not only what seed varietal and type best fits your desired needs and end goals? What’s the best sources for your genetics? Because of existing laws and policies, legal sources sometimes may be still limited. Next, we move on to which Rootzone best fits your particular growing environment. Hydroponics or Soil? Pots or Grow Bags? Top water or Bottom flood? Totally Organic or a combination with conventional methods? Which Integrated Pest and Pathogen Management Programs will work best for you? This is where I’ll share my Real Life Experience on practical, no nonsense solutions that have the best outcomes at the lowest price/plant…Corporate marketing will prove your worst enemy!
WEEK 2
Lighting Selection – For our purposes at this level of instruction, we are going to look at 4 different types of artificial lighting. Metal Halide – All 4 colors of natural light, but higher in blues then reds. High Pressure Sodium – Same 4 colors but more intense reds then blues. Ceramic Discharge – barely any yellows and greens but very high levels of blue then red. Last but not least, LED – which can be dialed in or Color adjusted and tuned for the particular time of year you’re trying to recreate, along with combinations of 2 or more for Optimum results, etc…
Ventilation and Air Filtration Systems – Everything from Activated Carbon Filters, High volume ventilation systems, with Ozone generators scrubbing exhaust and then scenting it with Natural Botanicals before discharge. Whether you need one or two Canvas Grow Tents or a Designated Mother Room with complete seal, and a Designated Flower Room with complete seal and light deprivation possible? Room engineering with cost saving Tips and Custom designs to best suit your needs. Of course, don’t forget that Outdoor growing is extremely inexpensive and produces as good, if not better, final product if proper cultivation methods are employed!
WEEK 3
Proper methodology on how to germinate your seeds and care for your infant seedling so you accomplish lowest mortality! Most inexperienced growers Kill their Young with Kindness…Depending on your Seed Selection, F1 thru F5, or simplifying initial efforts with S1 Feminized Seed, there may be a need to identify and Cull All Male Plants, different methods will be discussed to accomplish this task. Once we have confirmed plant sex, we move on to basic Cloning Techniques, along with proper up-potting techniques for minimal stress and shock! From that point on you’ll start learning correct procedures for Structuring and Training your Mother plants while propagating dozens upon dozens of genetically identical siblings (clones). This can be very rewarding depending on the skill-set you achieve.
WEEK 4
VEGETATIVE PHASE – PH & Nutrient requirements. Supporting your increased plant structure with different methods: i.e.- Netting, trellising, etc….Methods of Old School MonsterCropping and SuperCropping that allow you to take advantage of the additional support, greatly increasing your overall yield per plant while best utilizing space. Adjusting length of Vegetative cycle to best suit your desired result and budget, etc…You can double or even triple a plants productivity during growth phase by length of over 12 hour light cycle and cropping methods used….
WEEK 5
FLOWERING PHASE – Changing Lighting! Changes and adjustments to be made in Nutrients and feeding schedules. More intense policing of plants to make absolutely POSITIVE there is NO MALES MAKING POLLEN. This is due to either mis-identification during culling males or hermaphrodites caused by stresses from environments. Nothing ruins your fun faster, than all your grow of Beautiful Femmes going to seed! How to record by calendar and diagnose by observation of when the flowers are ripening. You’ll need time prior to Harvest, approximately 3 weeks, to thoroughly Flush the growing medium of all nutrients and chemicals. Proper Standard operational practices enforced to assure end product is pathogen and pest free
WEEK 6
Finishing, Harvesting and Drying! Numerous illustrations of various methods which have proven to Best Finish and Preserve all your Rockhard, High Terpene, Trichome Covered, Delicious Giant Nuggets for as long as you desire….
ADVANCED PROGRAMS
- Master Medical Methodology & Practical Application.
This course is structured around advanced education for Management and Cultivators seeking employment or advancement in the already thriving Industry of Medical Marijuana. Successful Competency Testing is required for a Certificate of Completion/Excellence!
- Industrial Hemp – The Future of American Farming!
This is a 2 Part Course that covers an extremely broad subject matter, Ranging from Sustainable Biofuel to Non Flammable Superior Building Materials. Part 1 of this class consists of intensive Lectures and Demonstrations. The Second Part of this Course is a Research and Development Lab in which we will actually develop products ranging from Bio-fuels to Hempcrete and do comprehensive testing on them!
- Genetics and Strain Development
The Most Comprehensive Cannabis Plant Breeding Program taught anywhere! From What Genotypes to Isolating Phenotypes, both male and female to breed from. Line breeding, back crossing, feminization, etc.. Chemical manipulation of both sexes to accomplish required end results. Basic A to Z of breeding the hemp plant. Covers Cannabinoid through Industrial Strains.
- Artificial Intelligence Interfaced Robotics for Management of large scale commercial Greenhouses and Farming!
This course will require all other programs to be completed w/ successful competency testing or a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology as a prerequisite!

A wide array of class schedules are available – Classes 5 days a week, 8 hours a day with classes from 12 noon to 8PM in the evening. Tailored to fit anyone’s schedule even if you’re already employed or a student. Initially, we are offering the Core Program Online through the use of a Conference Call Platform. We will probably continue to offer Core Program Online as a lower cost, convenient alternative for the Hobbyist/Recreational grower to learn the basics of successful cultivation, harvest, and curing of his own medicine. We will be aggressively seeking a brick and mortar facility to house our School, Garden Center and Research all at one location in the Central region of Pennsylvania.
Our primary students must be over 18 years of age minimum and have a High School Diploma or the Equivalent.
Our curriculum is targeted at Industry Professionals, Students and Hobbyists. All races, creeds and colors – local, out of state, and International.
*All courses include competency testing and offer degrees of Certificates of Completion, setting a new standard for cannabis education.
